About Us
Returning Heroes Home (RHH) is a local, San Antonio, 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works in collaboration with the U.S. military to support wounded, ill, and injured Warriors and their Family Members seeking relief through the Warrior and Family Support Center (WFSC) while receiving medical treatment at the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) on Joint Base Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.
In 2008 Returning Heroes Home slots up rtinhs successfully funded and constructed the Warrior and Family Support Center (WFSC) at Fort Sam Houston and gifted it to the U.S. military. The WFSC provides a homelike atmosphere and a place of healing, promoting family and social interactions for wounded, ill, and injured Warriors and their Family Members. The WFSC is designed to meet the physical and emotional needs of our Nation’s heroes. The WFSC makes a profound contribution to the rehabilitation of our Nation’s seriously wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, National Guard, Coast Guard, Reservists, and their loved ones. Warriors who visit the WFSC are there while receiving medical treatment at SAMMC for severe injuries and illnesses. These Warriors come from all over the United States and often stay for extended periods of time.
Returning Heroes Home played an important role in serving our Nation’s wounded, ill, and injured Warriors by giving them and their Family Members a home away from home to help enhance the healing experience and to find comfort during their rehabilitation period. RHH continues to contribute to the WFSC’s programs, events, and activities that are designed to enhance the healing process, promote family and social interaction and improve the quality of life.
While hostilities may have subsided, our Soldiers still endure severe injuries while on active duty, while training in real life combat activities, and are vulnerable to illnesses. That means the need for supportive programs and medical treatment for wounded, ill, and injured Warriors still exists. Your funds help RHH support the programs, events, and activities available at the WFSC, so that our Warriors and their Family Members have optimal resources at their disposal, allowing them to walk, run, and even climb the road to recovery.
Being a part of the growth of this facility has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my professional career. Giving back to those who serve – and helping them to heal – is an honor.
